The alternative rally to West Mersea, for those wanting to to go a
little further than the Roach was attended by Rioja, Parana and My
Haven. The passage to Mersea on Saturday involved doging through
thunderstorms. Moored successfully on Mersea’s famous pre-war
pontoons, My Haven got a chance to try out a new dinghy while Rioja
struggled to keep afloat in his old one.
We had an excellent dinner in the Coastal Inn and on Sunday morning,
we had breakfast in the Company Shed with a smidgeon too much wine
making the return trip a little uncomfortable for some parties. No
names mentioned, but it wasn’t Vic, Sean, Ira or Lynda.

Brightlingsea was very busy and saw some very creative berthing from Brightlingsea HM, Jackalope and Rioja experienced sideways berthing into a space a little bigger than their boats, extremely well executed, with no dramas.
We had 9 boats in attendance, Lune Orbitor, Storm, Jackalope, Rioja, Namaqua, Shearwater, Windroos, Dry Fly and Blue Moon.
