Last Saturday we held our Laying-up Supper. It would have been a dinner/dance but lack of support, necessitated a couple of changes. Nevertheless we were welcomed warmly by the Crouch Yach Club and 32 members and guests enjoyed a splendid meal which included pre-dinner bubbly served by the Skipper (when he remembered) and port and mints to finish. Also included were three bottles of wine per table. Much chat and jollification went on and again it was clear that it was members’ enthusiasm that made the evening the success it was. Our thanks go to the Crouch YC for letting us invade their Club for the evening and to the caterers and espicially to organisers Donald and Shirley who turned what could have been a damp squib into a very enjoyable evening.
