New Year’s Day Fambridge Trip. Once again this trip organised by Donald Neale who also arranged the Hogmanay provisions was an outstanding success. Peeling and cooking the ‘tatties’ and ‘neeps’ and heating the haggis took most of the run upriver so all was steaming hot by the time we lay alongside the pontoon at Fambridge. After this appetizing and nourishing meal, helped down by some Scottish ‘amber nectar’ we repaired to the ‘Ferryboat’ for further celebrating-in of the New Year. With five yachts and twenty participants this year, this outing has become a successful and traditional event. Consideration is being given to adding it to the rally programme thus making it a point-worthy rally, the proviso being that everyone who attends by boat gets a rally point, even if your own boat is laid up for the winter.
