New Years Day Rally – perfect to blow away any post-Christmas lethargy, a number of Members met on a blustery New Years Day morning with every intention of shaking out the sails and heading up-river to rally at Fambridge. Haggis, tatties and neeps would be cooked and eaten on the way…. however the weather intervened. The wind grew more violent and the sailors more prudent, deciding to weather out the wind in the haven of Juliet’s spacious cabin consoling themselves with Scottish water of life to accompany this most Scottish of meals. Cooked aboard Juliet, Namaqua and Storm, a dozen or more ate, drank and yarned, celebrating New Year’s Day in a most convivial manner. Other Members arrived, drank a noggin or two and departed as was their will, and a foresome even made it to Fambridge albeit by road. A good start to the season that with only the addition of some sailing and sunshine, could have made the day perfect.
